Scholarships are one-year, or in special cases, one-semester awards. You must re-apply each year that you wish to receive scholarship funds

New & Returning Theatre Major/Minor

Awards range from $2,500 to $750.

New & returning theatre major/minor students that meet scholarship eligibility. Awards are distrusted based on application score ranking, & total available funding that year.

**Scholarships cannot exceed the cost of tuition.

Make sure you meet the eligibility requirements for Theatre major/minor or non-theatre students.

Complete the Application

Fill out the Theatre Scholarship Application with your information and responses prior to deadline. Application can be complete here online or on Scholarship Universe.

Submit Your Application- Yearly

To continue receiving your scholarship, Submit your completed application and any required materials by the deadline EVERY YEAR to be conceded for the scholarship.

Wait for Notification

Applications will be reviewed, and students will be notified of scholarship decisions.

**Scholarships cannot exceed the cost of tuition. If you are receiving multiple scholarships, Utah Tech must coordinate awards so that they do not exceed the total cost of tuition for each semester. Some awards may therefore be lower than the initial offer.

 

Eligibility Terms & Expectations

To be awarded and retain a Utah Tech Theatre Scholarship, recipients must meet the following expectations:

Enrollment and Academic Standing

●     Maintain full-time enrollment (minimum 12 credits per semester)

●     Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.0

●     Maintain a minimum Theatre GPA of 2.5

Participation Requirements

Students must demonstrate active engagement in the Theatre Department each semester through:

●     Enrollment in at least one Theatre Workshop per semester. (minimum 0.5 credits)

Contribution to Department Operations

●     Participate in strike for each production that academic year.

●     Attend required Theatre Program meetings for majors and minors. (maximum of 2 excused absences per semester)

●     Participate in at least one department-sponsored event per academic year. (such as recruitment events or community engagement activities)

Professional Expectations

Students are expected to demonstrate professionalism in all academic and production settings. This includes:

●     Attending scheduled rehearsals, calls, and meetings on time.

●     Completing assigned responsibilities within agreed deadlines.

●     Communicating promptly and respectfully with faculty, staff, and collaborators.

●     Following production guidelines and safety protocols.

**Failure to meet these expectations may impact scholarship retention.

Progress and Academic Engagement

Students must demonstrate continued progress in their academic or creative pathway by:

●     Completing coursework aligned with their degree program or theatre involvement.

●     Demonstrating application of skills from coursework in production, design, or performance settings.

●     Remaining actively engaged in departmental learning environments. (courses, workshops, rehearsals, or labs)

Evaluation and Continuation

●     Scholarships are awarded for one academic year unless otherwise specified.

●     Recipients must reapply each year to be considered for continued funding.

●     Continued eligibility is based on meeting the above criteria and maintaining active participation in the department.

Equity and Access

The Theatre Department recognizes that students have varying levels of access, time availability, and financial responsibility.

If a student’s ability to meet any requirement is impacted by work obligations, financial hardship, health, or caregiving responsibilities, they are encouraged to communicate with faculty. Reasonable flexibility may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
